[Kirishima can't light up a room or power generators, so they've all got their strengths and weaknesses. At least traffic isn't heavy during the ride, though they ran into some rainy weather along the way. Band doesn't bother shutting Denki down when he opts to talk, responding with her own thoughts and opinions on more discussion topics and then providing some details about hobbies. Turns out she knows a lot about rubber and its properties, and can get a little teacher-y regarding it. But it's obvious she's proud of her knowledge and how she used it in the past (and present).
If she feels bad about dumping Denki off in an abandoned casino, it's not showing at all on her face while the young hero scans around the place. True, it could've been torn down soon, but without any management or owner to claim it, the government owns it and they've yet to bother wasting their resources on some busted down tourist trap flung off the side of a highway. It is a shame; Kaminari's right about the casino's view.]
It was. I saw pictures. Look it up when you get home. [Very much an old-time feeling to it, Westerners would probably call it "retro" or something. Figuring on that question, Band nods towards the casino.] You'll find a phone inside on the front desk. Feel free to use it.
[It's one of those cheap, ghost phones that doesn't really have an owner and just jacks into whatever network's around. Villains use them a lot. Phone companies hate them.]
I'm sure you can figure it out from here on.
[With that, she gets back in the car and turns it on with a twist of the keys.]
Might see you around. Depends on whether Kyuketsuki wants to keep our employ.
[ Hardening is useful to avoid head injuries and crashing into a highway, but it's true. They all have their strength and weaknesses. Like the ability to talk about literally anything - Denki's had a pretty good time learning about rubber, honestly.
When she mentions looking it up later, he gives her a half-smile. Honestly, he might just do that. Maybe someone will buy it and put up a big house there instead, overlooking the view.
He perks up a bit when he hears about the phone, having pumped himself up to wander all the way back to the main road. He's not exactly lazy right now, but he does have a head injury that he doesn't want to fuck up. ]
...thanks, Band. Guess I might see you around if I'm working with Kyuketsuki-san to deal with the power company villains. Drive safely and all that.
[ He gives her a little wave as she gets into the car, and then heads for the casino to find that phone... hopefully without making the roof fall down on him or something when he opens the door. ]
[Also makes sparks, ironically. He's one of the fire starters in the class if he ever wanted to be. But no one's going to deny their love for everyone's favorite phone charger. Kaminari's been the hero many a time when something blew out in the Heights.
If Denki wants to champion the places' real estate, he's welcome to try and help get the casino renovated or get the space cleared and cleaned up. Who knows. Either way will make it look better, if someone's content to maybe put a BnB out here.
Band wasn't planning on dropping him off on the side of the road to leave him for some hitch hiker to pick up. Probably get himself kidnapped again. There are supplies and his phone inside to give him a comfortable rest in the casino until help arrives. But no offered clue on how that stuff got there for him.]
Possibly. But doubtful. Most heroes wouldn't find it very comfortable to work with known kidnappers. [After all, despite their excellence at it, The Rubbers are still a kidnapping villainous trio. If they are going to be involved with this, it would be from the shadows and likely not within sight of the heroes Kaminari's bringing with him. So who knows...]
See you around, Sparkplug. [Before setting foot to pedal and driving the car out of the parking lot and back onto the road. The casino is obviously in the corpse state by now, but its structure is still strong. Denki won't have trouble finding the phone sitting on the counter, along with a simple burlap sack with some snacks and three water bottles resting atop some old table cloths. Might require some shaking out, but they'll function.]
[ It's... kind of creepy to see the snacks and the water waiting for him. This place is obviously super abandoned, so who left them for him? Maybe villains squat here and got a call to set him up with some stuff while waiting.
He takes a water bottle and gulps down a bit before finally picking up the phone receiver and dialing... who? His agency? Police? Katsuki? Denki hesitates for a moment and then finally decides to call Katsuki first. He could probably pick him up, and he could report to the rest after being safe somewhere.
He doesn't want to be smacked from behind again and dragged to another place.
Waiting for his boyfriend to pick up, he slinks down to sit on the floor, back against the counter.
If he hears that click and the sweet, sweet grumpy voice, he's just gonna breathe out a 'Hey babe' before a slightly hysterical laugh leaves him. Holy fuck, what the hell had he even been through? ]
[At least it's not creepy enough to turn out to be his favorites or anything. As for the answer, it's fairly simple, but not one Kaminari needs to be made privy to. Band seems comfortable enough to leave him there on his own, and all hints point to the Rubbers being professional experts enough not to stupidly drop a "package" off without ensuring it'll survive.
The phone's a simple one again, with little more available on it than calling features, a notepad, and calculator, as far as applications go. No fingerprints either. So RIP that option.
Bakugou lurches up from the desk when his phone rings and immediately slams his thumb against it while bringing it up to his ear. One smooth (angry) motion, mouth parting slightly upon hearing his boyfriend's voice. The rush of relief and spike of adrenaline are a horrible clash in two different directions and the rest of those around him immediately swing their attention to the blonde.]
Denki! [Yelling into the phone, his voice strained from the intense wave of emotions and feelings right now. Hearing that laugh is disturbing and appreciated all at once. Onto business!] Where the fuck are you?! [Cause that's the most important part right now.]
[ Apparently now is when his brain decides he's gonna fall apart, the laughter turning to a few stressed tears as he tries to collect himself. Damn, he doesn't have time for this. ]
There's an old casino. Tsubaki's Dire, it's above Shizuoka. I was dropped off there.
[ He's not sure about the address, honestly, but that should be more than good enough. The support team is excellent. ]
I'm okay, I'm safe, I'm not hurt... well, a little hurt, but they took care of it. Can you send someone to pick me up?
[ He doesn't care who comes and gets him, he just wants to go home. ]
[He just needs the name. Katsuki immediately repeats it for those around him and the place explodes into action. Maps, computers, phone calls, Iida guzzling orange juice (cause as much as Bakugou hates to admit it, even with Cluster, Iida and Midoriya can still best him in speed). But he needs to stay on the phone and talk to his boyfriend so Kaminari holds himself together.]
We're on our way. Stay on the damn line. Talk to me. Say whatever you fucking want. [They're already moving, an ambulance and the police getting ready. Talk of a helicopter, but it's decided not to spend the resource if they're going to send police cars and an ambulance.
Bakugou's heroic duty wants to encourage Kaminari to talk about his kidnappers, get as much information out as he can while it's still as fresh in his head as possible... but his boyfriend isn't going to force him to talk about that so quickly after the incident. So... floor's open for Denki as Katsuki keeps him on the line while they move.]
[ God, he's so relieved. Hearing Katsuki's voice, knowing it's over and he'll get to go home is flooding every stressed cell in his body. It doesn't really matter that he was treated well or talked himself out of the situation - looks like he was gonna be a bit of a mess, anyway. ]
I don't even know what to say, babe. I'm just so done with this. As soon as I heard your voice it felt like I was hit with a ton of bricks, like I've been holding stuff in for days.
[ Their friends (that are not getting ready to go) are gathering around the explosive blonde to hear Denki's voice. ]
I'm sorry about all of this. It's... so stupid. How long have I been gone? Like five days?
[ Two days going over, a day there and about a day, day and a half back? Maybe? It's still weird that he was knocked out for so long. ]
I missed you. I mean, we've been apart longer before and that wasn't an issue, but damn I missed you so much this time.
[ He's just taking now, a stream of consciousness going out of his mouth. ]
Why do I feel so messed up? I wasn't hurt and they treated me well but now I'm just falling apart. You had it so much worse.
[Katsuki's almost white knuckling his phone, though the rest of him is staying dangerously serious and composed. Already moving off the desk and heading outside with the others. He's not letting this fucking call drop until he's got his boyfriend back in his arms and safe. Letting Denki vent is helpful for both of them.]
Then just say whatever you fucking want. I'm right here.
[He keeps some of his words to himself, knowing his reaction to getting kidnapped isn't the same as his boyfriend's. Rage and pride prevented him from admitting for a second he was ever scared, and he still does his damnest to shake away the occasional flickers of memories and instinctive reactions the experience inflicted upon him. But Denki's different.
Katsuki shoulders Eijirou aside and pushes Izuku away, fuming as they crowd around him. PISS OFF!! HE HAS THE BOYFRIEND PRIVILEGES!! NOT YOU FUCKING MORONS!! GET OFF HIM!!]
Just over. You called and emailed us on the third day. [Which was utterly shocking, but gave them hope. Confused hope, but hope nevertheless. Just over five days and they're getting in cars to drive towards the location. A helicopter was ultimately dispatched, just to scout the area and make sure this wasn't some sort of trap with Denki as the unwitting bait.]
Don't fucking compare this shit. You got kidnapped; that'll fuck with anyone. Doesn't matter if you're in a gold cage or a shitty dungeon. You got taken. [His brows furrow beneath his mask.] It's fine to feel fucked up and fall apart, Denki. It's fine. [Don't try to stuff it and pretend it's all okay like Katsuki had done. He knows that's not how his man operates.]
[ I'm right here. Right on the other side of the phone, no time limit, nothing more important this time than just getting home. Katsuki's there and they're coming for him. He can hear some people in the background, and realizes there might not just be his boyfriend, police and EMTs coming to get him. His friends were there, helping. ]
I thought they were really going to hurt me, at first. [ He says, a bit more quietly. ] It was just the delivery people, though. The boss guy... fuck, I don't even remember how much of my attempts to reason with him was lies and what was true. I just had to make him change his mind.
[ Leaning his head back a bit, he looks up at the shitty casino ceiling. Don't compare, the explosive hero says. How can he not? Not only did Katsuki not break down, he did the right thing. Denki... he's not sure he did. ]
I did it, though. I changed his mind. I got away and it might cost me my hero career.
[ Curling up a bit more, Denki nervously lets his fingers play with the burlap bag. ]
I made so many promises, Katsuki. If I don't keep them, and this power plant attack plan is real, I'm losing an informant. If I do... I'm protecting a villain.
[He surely didn't think it'd only be Katsuki coming to get him after he was kidnapped? There was an entire platoon of heroes (and some law-breaking classmates) come to get him when the explosive blonde had been kidnapped. No less for Denki. Though considering the sounds of engines, it's going to be a race to see who gets to Chargebolt first: the helicopter or Ingenium.]
No one's going to give you crap for lying to a villain when you're life's on the line. [Some people might argue the point, and that comment has different levels of acceptance from others, but it's true.] Why did you try and reason with him? Was he planning on doing something fucked up and you talked him out of it?
[Okay so now they know the boss is a male, so that's one checkbox ticked. But someone let Kaminari reason with him after going through all the work of kidnapping him? What the fuck? Bakugou leans against the side of the car, glaring out the window as it speeds down the road. Kirishima, Mina, Sero, and Shinsou are with him, listening in on the phone while Midoriya takes off after Iida.]
You got out from a kidnapping event. It's not going to cost you your career. [He's kind of confused as to why Kaminari would even think that. No one's going to see him as weak for escaping! Or even if he was let go.] Denki. Oy, slow down.
What do you mean? What kind of promises? You're not the kind of person to help a villain just to save your own fucking skin.
[ This was different, wasn't it? Denki was already 'saved'. Still, he didn't expect just Katsuki, no. Police and ambulance people, too. His whole friend group? His whole class? He both wants it already dreads it at the same time.
If he knew what was being sent, the electric blonde would bet on Iida getting there first. The guy was getting faster every year.
When he's asked to slow down, the electric hero takes another deep breath. ]
I... he said he had taken me to rescue me. [ He starts, since that had wigged hm out a lot in the beginning. 'Rescuing' him. The hints of creepiness. ] Which yeah, I thought was bullshit, but then he told me all about the plan with three yakuza factions destroying Japan's power support, and how someone like me could be abused in a chaos like that.
[ He has to think to really separate what he had said to Kyuketsuki in his head. It had been a lot, and his brain was still healing at the time. Hell, still is. ]
I talked to him, made him understand that what he doing was wrong, and that he can instead help me stop the threat.. if there was one. Eventually he just agreed. After everything he told me, after all the talk about it being leftover pieces of AFO's plans to monopolize the world, he just gave in.
[ In hindsight, he doesn't understand why. Why would Kyuketsuki just let him go after all the money and danger that had been put into this? ]
...it's weird. I kind of like him? Like... I was trying to save his ass as much as my own.
[He wasn't in the hands of the villains anymore, but there's the continued threat of this being a trap with Denki as the bait, or the Danger Prone Deku aspect where Chargebolt could get into trouble before the heroes were able to get to him. It's one of the reasons he's not bitching as Ingenium and Deku make tracks to try and beat the fucking helicopter there. And considering the place is over 100 miles away from them, Dynamight's putting his money on Deku. Ingenium's still got a time limit on his engines.]
WHAT THE FUCK?! [Which has the entire car jumping off it's wheels as all four heroes explode in the backseat. Yeah these other three assholes are leaning in so close, Bakugou's got no privacy on the damn phone. Did he just hear what he thought he just heard?!] Why the fuck did he want to "rescue" you?! What kind of fucking brainwashing is that?! [Despite the yelling, Bakugou shuts the other three up, snarling and glaring as Kaminari explains the rest of if.
Which he doesn't want to admit makes some sense. Electrical Quirks are highly valued and in a world without electricity, Kaminari would most likely become hunted and used...] Even if that's true, why you? You're not the only hero with an electricity Quirk. Does he know you from somewhere?
[That last question came from Sero, though he let the blonde ask it. Though now they're getting more of the story. So this bastard paid kidnappers to capture Kaminari, take him wherever, under the guise of rescuing him from a potential bad future event, and then... let him go after the blonde what... sweet talked some sense into his head?]
This sounds really fucking suspicious, Denki. [At the same time, ridiculous as it is, if that's the real truth, and the guy actually wanted to save Kaminari, then it's a case of good motives bad execution and obviously he'd let the guy go if he realized that wasn't the way to go about it.] Who the fuck kidnaps someone they like who isn't a fucking control-hungry psychopath?
[They'll uh... He'll come back to his boyfriend saying he liked the guy and wanted to save his ass.]
[ That possible bait or getting into extra trouble is partly why he has his back against the counter and 'hiding' a bit. He still doesn't fully trust if this was real, or if this was a test or some really weird, expensive game. The more Katsuki talks, the more it really doesn't make any sense why Kyuketsuki let him go despite all the change of heart.
Denki's stomach falls at the scream and he nearly drops the phone. ]
I don't know. I don't know. [ He whines. ] Just... please be careful.
[ He hopes that it's all that. The truth. A mistake. Everything he believed in when he had spoken to Kyuketsuki. All the good things. He wanted to believe he could have changed someone. ]
...he might have been a Chargebolt fan. He said something about me doing the fringe blow thing and mimicking it. It doesn't explain the rest, though.
[ He sighs again, glancing up at the ceiling once more. ]
There was water and snacks as well as this phone waiting for me, so be on alert in case someone's still around.
[It doesn't make sense and Katsuki's calling it out on its own preposterous reality. To have someone spend the resources to kidnap someone and then get talked out of it by said someone, with the intent behind it to "rescue" them from a potential danger in the future? It just doesn't make any sense, unless it's some fucked up copycat practice from a wacky film trying to shoehorn in a romantic subplot. Not even sure why he's thinking this right now, but that's where his damn brain's going!
Katsuki frowns at the whining on the phone, but the only thing that comes across is a short "tsk, ugh" growl and he lets the topic drop. There's more important things on the line right now.]
I'm always careful.
[Which earns a comment from Sero and Bakugou yells at him for it. Bastard! But the squad continues forward. As much as the entire class wanted to go, logic prevailed. They couldn't have 20+ heroes heading out to pick up 1 of them. The came after Katsuki with those numbers because the League of Villains was involved, but in this case...]
Everyone knows you do the fringe blow thing; it's a fucking emoji by now. Unless he's some psychotic stalker.
Did you recognize him? [Sero leaning over to the phone and Katsuki snarls at him despite.] Maybe you knew him a long time ago?
Urusei! He already said he didn't recognize him! [Katsuki plants his hand on Sero's face, trying to shove him backwards while Mina goes for the phone.]
Don't drink the water, Kami! It might be poisoned!
BAKA! They're not gonna kidnap and release him just to fucking poison him! You think we're dealing with a brain dead moron?!
I know. I just... don't want to be responsible for more bullshit.
[ Denki is not going to be okay for a while, but he can handle getting his own ass in trouble. He can't if he's risking his friends in any way. Sure, he believes in them with all his heart, but it doesn't change how utterly weird this situation is. ]
No, man. I really don't think so. His appearance was pretty unique, I would have remembered it.
[ Right?
...there's a clatter as he drops the water bottle, and the sound of a spit-take as Mina mentions poison. Sure, it makes no sense, but he's really jumpy right now. ]
Minaaaa. Don't do that. I'm stressed already!
[ He got his head bashed in, he doesn't need to half-drown himself as well. ]
Don't you fucking dare. You're not responsible for any of this fucking bullshit, Denki.
[Katsuki expected that comment to come out of his boyfriend's mouth sooner or later and he swatted it down immediately. That feeling of guilt, frustrated over your own weakness, the responsibility of being the "problem" that caused all this trouble for everyone else cause you couldn't stop what happened... He knew those feelings intimately.
No, you don't just "get over it". It stays, and he knows it's going to affect Denki for a long time afterwards. But Katsuki's not about to let him spend a further second without some pushback against the guilt and "blame" his mind's pushing.]
People can change their appearance.
[Thanks for the update, Ser-]
WHAT THE FUCK, TANUKI EYES! You want him to dehydrate before we find him?!
[Whining but defending herself, Mina settles back and Shinsou radios in on the three sojourners.]
Midoriya's just passed 20 miles. It should be less than an hour at his speed.
[Sorry, Iida, but the Symbol of Peace is extremely hard to outpace.]
[ Katsuki shuts his guilty words down like a slap, but it doesn't take it away. He should have watched his back. If he wasn't so stupid, none of this would have ever happened... and his disappearance made all his friends look for him when they had their own patrols and heroing to do.
Then there were all the promises, the way he had bent his own moral compass as a hero. The way he wanted his kidnapper to be okay. All the things with the possible blackout plan, and how much he would lose his credibility as a hero if it was all bullshit. Guilt, guilt, guilt.
Denki has turned quiet, now, going over people he's ever talked to or met that might have been Kyuketsuki. His middle school had a lot of exchange students, and he made friends very easily - even if they weren't exactly close. It was more quantity than quality back then. He drifted apart from all of them once he started to prepare for the UA entrance exams. Then after getting accepted... well, it was pretty hard to have time for people outside of school.
The name Kyuketsuki doesn't ring a bell, either. It's quite unique and ironic, considering the man's look and accent. Probably not his real name. ]
...I've got another bottle. It's fine.
[ Midoriya was getting closer. He wouldn't be alone much longer, but an hour was still a long-ass time. He doesn't want to think about what happened the last time the guy was late. ]
[It's not a pleasant feeling at all. Even if their skill levels are different, they're all heroes. None of them like to disappoint people they care about or know are relying on them. None of them like to be shown as weak or pathetic. Making mistakes that lead to others enduring the burden of their recover... It's a good thing U.A. taught them the value of teamwork, but it doesn't take away the sting of failure. Even if there are people to cover your back and catch you.
Katsuki frowns at the phone, almost as if he could read along with his boyfriend's thoughts. Worries over his credibility, someone who was weak enough to be kidnapped and suddenly got released with a dubious at best claim of some impeding disaster... Of course he'd look sketchy if this turned out to be false. It's one reason why there's been no effort to go public with the potential threat, though a few eyes have at least begun to research the three power companies mentioned. A little preparation would never hurt anyone. But further progress is waiting on Chargebolt's safe recovery.
The silence on the other end isn't too nerve wracking, as Mina's point probably required that time to think. Katsuki remembers almost everyone from his middle school class, though he'd never bother admitting such a thing if it was brought up. He fell out of touch with all of them after entering U.A. because they weren't worth his time to keep up with. His mind's changed on that now, but he hasn't much bothered with acting on it. Kind of busy with his life. Maybe a middle school reunion... if Izuku dragged his grumpy ass off to it. The idea that Denki might have known this person from the past does at least make for a plausible connection.]
Do you want to talk about him? What he looks like or sounds like? [Katsuki's leaving the option in Denki's hands, knowing it's traumatic to talk about kidnapping, but he also doesn't want his boyfriend to stay silent for too long. It's unnerving and isn't helpful for him to not have the constant reminder they're on their way.
And yeah, that's likely why Izuku is fucking BOokinG IT across the world.]
[ He's already 'the funny guy'. If he starts looking unreliable... fuck. He's screwed. Public or not, his fellow heroes have his idiotic 'intel' on file now. In the end, their opinion is more important than the fans. His fellow heroes have to be able to trust him.
How can he do that when he doesn't really trust himself any more? ]
I... I don't know if I should. I gave him my word to try to fix this, I don't know.
[ He needs Kyuketsuki to keep getting information about the power plants. He made a deal. What part is right? Keeping a deal that could help save people - or putting him away, staining Mizudenki forever. ]
[If the heroes survived and still trusted each other after the war, after Endeavor and Hawks' histories were revealed, after All Might's retirement and the truth of One for All came out, after everything they went through, there's no way they're going to lose faith in Kaminari for being lied to by his kidnapper after being kidnapped.
Then again, logical thoughts aren't the forefront of the Stun Gun Hero's mind right now, huh...]
Denki...
[Katsuki frowns into the phone. He can't say he knows all of it, but now his boyfriend's got himself wedged between a rock and a hard place. Somehow the kidnapper got him to promise... and now it's conflicting with his ability to help his own allies. It's not hard to gather. Happened a lot in dramatic hero comics they all read when they were younger.
Doesn't mean it's easier to deal with. Katsuki's never had this challenge lobbied on him... This might be something Denki should take up with Hawks. The man knows a lot about playing a double agent. Or maybe Lady Nagant. Recovered, but still... she's always going to struggle with her disillusionment and the betrayal.]
Don't break your promise then. You did what you felt was right. We'll find a way for everything to turn out right.
[Mina nudges him and says he sounds like Midoriya.]
It's not my fault he goes around making those fucking speeches! Piss off!
Careful, Dekacchan. You almost sounded heroic for a second.
[ Logical shit kind of went out his head as soon as he was left alone and frightened. They have literal killers and child abusers as pretty trusted heroes, but going against his own morals is making him feel worse.
Maybe because they're supposed to be better. They're supposed to be the war heroes, the new kind of heroes that Japan needed. Falling into the same traps... fuck, it's kind of a deep hit.
There's something affirming and heart-warming in hearing his friends bicker, though, and it eases the stress a bit when Mina makes clever quips and Katsuki yells. It feels like normalcy, like family. ]
I'll make things right, somehow. It all depends on that power plant plot.
[ Denki says softly. He fucking hates that damn disaster threat by now. Leaning his head to the phone, he takes a sip from the water bottle without panic spittle in it. ]
...oh, tell the EMTs I probably got a shitty concussion and I'm still having some tired spells. They also gave me a few stitches that probably needs a check.
[ It's so much easier to report what was physically wrong with him rather than dealing with his emotions. Saying his head is a little fucked up is pretty normal and won't make him cry. ]
[Though Katsuki doesn't agree with Endeavor's abusive history or Hawks' dirty past, the truth is, both of those men are heroes. The lives they've saved and protected far outnumber those that were ruined or ended. Doesn't make it right, but they're heroes all the same. He won't agree with Denki lying or working with a villain, but he won't consider Chargebolt less a hero.
Dynamight still believes his boyfriend did what he thought was best. For himself and for the people around him. And so what if this threat doesn't turn out to be real? A villain was feeding Kaminari bullshit and the guy said he'd look into it. What harm is there in checking out a threat? If Deku and Lemillion had checked closer to Eri that first time, things would've gone a different route. Though the result would've been the same: they'd win.
It's the same thing here. If there is no threat, the villain was just blowing smoke, and the heroes were acting on prudence and caution to make sure it was a false alarm. But if it is a threat... they'll have foresight to deal with it. Either way, Kaminari's agreement and warning speak to his trust and protection as a hero.
Bakugou's gonna have to sit down and make him see that.]
Many areas are still recovering from the war. Now would be an optimal time for some crazy ass plot to rear its fucking head.
[Not too soon after the war, when everyone was still on edge and things were shifting, but not too long when everything had settled and there was enough solidarity to make a united front... Plus greed never sleeps.]
The ambulance is already on its way. We figured out you'd taken a hit to the head.
[But the blood splatter on the wall at a specific height and Kaminari's visor with the cracks and blood stains.]
[ It might take some talks and maybe therapy to sort Denki out from this. Stockholm syndrome is literally a coping mechanism during kidnappings and abuse that makes you sympathize (or even fall in love) with your captor, and it gets more muddled in the electric blonde's case when you mix in things like wanting to keep Mizudenki out of the backlash.
At least he loves Katsuki too much to even look at Kyuketsuki that way.
Whatever happened with the yakuza and the power plant threat... he would have to be involved. ]
Yeah... he said something about there being a power vaccuum left after AFO, and that's not hard to believe. We already had some assholes trying things before. This just sounded a lot more organized.
[ Denki's not going to argue that he doesn't need a whole-ass ambulance, too emotionally exhausted. ]
Hey... what happened to my costume and gear? I woke up in shitty clothes without any of it but my choker. The only thing I don't have a damn tracker in.
[ Sometimes he wears it at home and in sexy situations, and didn't want to feel like he was watched somehow. He's definitely rethinking that, now. ]
[So far Katsuki doesn't believe Denki developed any kind of Stockholm syndrome. He was polite to his captors and didn't try to fight them off, but rather behaved calmly and rationally and talked with them to learn about his situation and the things they wanted. Earned their trust and information, for reasons the explosive blonde is very suspicious of, and finally talked his way out of the kidnapping with some promises towards keeping his damn mouth shut.
That's not Stockholm syndrome! That's being a decent human being and blackmail!
Guh, he's going to be dealing with the ramifications of this for quite some time. At least Katsuki has zero thoughts at all about Denki remotely showing interest in another man.
But the truth is, whatever's going forward, Kaminari's involved and Bakugou can't tell whether that's deliberate or he's merely a lucky bonus or collateral damage to the villain.]
Aa. We've been monitoring as much as we can. Who knows what fucking contingency plans that bastard left behind anyone could snap up and reignite.
[The League's behind bars, but that's not entirely saying much when unrest still ripples below the surface in different areas. Heroes can't be everywhere at once and the ones that skulked away under the pressure are hard pressed to have any sort of welcome back upon their return.
Excuse you. A whole-ass ambulance will show up to a fucking robbery or even a fender bender if they feel it's beneficial. You're getting a whole-ass ambulance. You're bleeding with stitches, for fuck's sake!]
We found them along the original route, two pieces in that garbage truck of a Faraday cage, another in the alley, your visor on the road leading out of the power plant. Like some damn golden apples, we got slowed down finding and recovering each piece.
[A tracker here. A tracker there. Could he be on this one? What about this one? Lucky them Chargebolt's costume wasn't a massive collection of individual items, but the kidnappers figured on the trackers being in his clothes, separated said clothes, and casually tossed them along the drive to send the searchers veering off course at different increments. No fingerprints either. Not even skin cells or breath condensation. Dynamight doesn't voice those, not wanting to sound like his praising the fucking kidnappers for being skilled.]

Depends on whether Kyuketsuki wants to keep our employ.
no subject
no subject
Might require some shaking out, but they'll function.]
no subject
Katsuki. I'm free.
no subject
[Cause that's the most important part right now.]
no subject
There's an old casino. Tsubaki's Dire, it's above Shizuoka. I was dropped off there.
[ He's not sure about the address, honestly, but that should be more than good enough. The support team is excellent. ]
I'm okay, I'm safe, I'm not hurt... well, a little hurt, but they took care of it. Can you send someone to pick me up?
[ He doesn't care who comes and gets him, he just wants to go home. ]
no subject
We're on our way. Stay on the damn line. Talk to me. Say whatever you fucking want. [They're already moving, an ambulance and the police getting ready. Talk of a helicopter, but it's decided not to spend the resource if they're going to send police cars and an ambulance.
Bakugou's heroic duty wants to encourage Kaminari to talk about his kidnappers, get as much information out as he can while it's still as fresh in his head as possible... but his boyfriend isn't going to force him to talk about that so quickly after the incident. So... floor's open for Denki as Katsuki keeps him on the line while they move.]
no subject
You had it so much worse.
no subject
He knows that's not how his man operates.]
no subject
If I do... I'm protecting a villain.
no subject
You're not the kind of person to help a villain just to save your own fucking skin.
no subject
Like... I was trying to save his ass as much as my own.
no subject
He'll come back to his boyfriend saying he liked the guy and wanted to save his ass.]
no subject
Denki's stomach falls at the scream and he nearly drops the phone. ]
I don't know. I don't know. [ He whines. ] Just... please be careful.
[ He hopes that it's all that. The truth. A mistake. Everything he believed in when he had spoken to Kyuketsuki. All the good things. He wanted to believe he could have changed someone. ]
...he might have been a Chargebolt fan. He said something about me doing the fringe blow thing and mimicking it. It doesn't explain the rest, though.
[ He sighs again, glancing up at the ceiling once more. ]
There was water and snacks as well as this phone waiting for me, so be on alert in case someone's still around.
no subject
[Rawr! Least it's same old same.]
no subject
How much longer?
[ It's stupid, he knows it's a long way. Still. ]
no subject
[Sorry, Iida, but the Symbol of Peace is extremely hard to outpace.]
no subject
no subject
And yeah, that's likely why Izuku is fucking BOokinG IT across the world.]
no subject
How can he do that when he doesn't really trust himself any more? ]
I... I don't know if I should. I gave him my word to try to fix this, I don't know.
[ He needs Kyuketsuki to keep getting information about the power plants. He made a deal. What part is right? Keeping a deal that could help save people - or putting him away, staining Mizudenki forever. ]
I promised, Katsuki.
[ Denki says, voice a little cracked. ]
no subject
URUSEI!! I ALWAYS SOUND HEROIC, YOU BITCH!
[Etc.]
no subject
no subject
[But the blood splatter on the wall at a specific height and Kaminari's visor with the cracks and blood stains.]
no subject
no subject
