[If it bleeds, it reads. Bastards. Bakugou has better things to do than go after some fucked up reporter looking for a good steak to slap down in front of people. Didn't they just get through reassuring the public they can put their trust and hope in heroes?! Don't instantly lose it the second one of them gets kidnapped or knocked down, dammit! Then again, the news is fucking negative all the time anyways. No one wants to hear positive news. It's not as gripping.
So far he hasn't seen the "broken-hearted lover" headlines, and it's probably safer for the news network that Dynamight doesn't see them. Because THEN he'll actually act on his annoyance. And the "not doing enough" ... well, that's just cruel. A representative of Jeanist's agency might be making a trip to whoever put that shit out there.
(Getting flashbacks to Austin Powers and his Shagmobile. "Does this make you randy, baby?" Disco ball in the top, lava lamp to the side, leopard skin blankets for sure. Purple pillows. Garish. Yeah, best to go alley fucking.)
Buresuku would probably be the result. Doubtful the guy would actually mind, if he's been this courteous to Kaminari as it is, minus the whole kidnapping thing. He remains focused on the waterworks below him for a few more seconds before turning to head down the hall to the right.
Yeah, so many things continue to come back to All for One. The man had previously held the underworld together, and focused all the Heroes on his machinations. And then, he did it again, culminating in that last war that would have put him as the ruler of Japan and the world outside within his grasp. It's not surprising there are many leftovers of that kind of plan. Power void indeed.]
There are three groups [one hand with three fingers held up] behind three power company chains [second hand with three fingers held up] that plan to follow All for One's machinations and become the sole power suppliers of Japan.
[ Sometimes you wonder if the press has a heart at all. Tearful losses sell a lot better than silence and no updates. The only good part might be showing heroes as human beings with loved ones to lose, but that's not exactly great, either. Let's not start a hero SO kidnapping spree.
Oh, yeah. Genius Office is very much sending a C&D on the slander.
At the power plant, Denki hesitates for a moment as Kyūketsuki starts walking towards a hallway. The man really didn't seem worried that he'd try and book it out of here rather than follow, which was ballsy and insulting at the same time. He probably knows that throwing that name around means that Chargebolt can't exactly run off until he hears all of this plan - and so he begrudgingly catches up with his captor like a good little pet.
(A good hero.)
Three groups, three companies. All planning to become sole power suppliers of Japan. Yeah, he got that far without trouble. It's the 'disaster' mentioned that worries him, as well as his own involvement in all of this. ]
So you're planning on making Mizudenki one of these? The output of this place is probably massive but it would be impossible to make up for the thousands of other plants...
[ He glances at the man, eyes narrowing a bit. ]
...I'm not strong enough to make up the difference either, if that's what you think.
[A lot of times, the answer is "fuck no" - the media is truly a heartless animal often and doesn't care at all what the results of their reporting is. If there's confusion, that simply means they get to report more, emotional responses get further reports, and so on. News breeds news. Bakugou's gonna be glad to here his mentor's agency is going to go after he slander.
Considering Chargebolt isn't a complete idiot, it should be obvious the hero is inside someone else's "territory", if you will. With the brief showing at the loading bay, it appears at least everyone around there was either aware of the kidnapping or wasn't in a position to say anything against it. Besides, the three villains were still around somewhere, and there was no telling what else Kyūketsuki could summon, as he seemed pretty much "the boss" in this entire thing.
He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his phone, checking on a few updates until Chargebolt rejoins him. The further down the hall they go, the more hallways branch off on the opposite side of the glass wall suggesting offices or stairways or other elements of the powerplant and its operations.]
Of course not. Mizudenki doesn't have anywhere near the number of powerplants to supply the nation. I believe it will be a mixture of threats and hostile takeovers, one company intending to absorb as much of the others as possible.
[He closes his phone's conversation and puts it back in his pocket.]
Do you know what it takes to become to sole source of power? A vacuum, where there is no power, and people who are desperate to regain it at whatever cost. That's what I believe any of these three companies will be willing to do. A complete electrical blackout of the nation, until someone breaks through the victor.
What else could that result in, but disaster? I couldn't leave you out there to face that kind of danger... Not when people would come after you.
[ It's being 'in the belly of the beast' that keeps Denki from actually rushing out rather than just trying to find his possible exits and plans. The fact that nobody reacted in a 'good' way when he fell out of the car is a clear indicator that he can't just rush to a random worker and request help and a phone.
It's disheartening, and he follows the damn guy with a sigh. Not even enough of a threat to him that he's checking his phone?
As he joins up with Kyūketsuki again, hearing the fact that he's not planning to be a part of this power void takeover is seriously confusing, a confusion that lasts until the question about disasters and the other things come to a point.
If he's telling the truth, Kyūketsuki really thinks he's protecting him. ]
Kyūketsuki-san. I'm a hero, facing dangers is what I do. I need to be there for people, I need to help stop this blackout from happening. I have several heroes, friends, to guard my back.
[ 'I don't need you' would be dangerous to say if the kidnapper was some faux savior. ]
[It's probably the same reason why Blesk isn't bothering to keep Denki chained or depowered. The further they go into the powerplant, the harder and harder it will be to get out. Even now, the hallway behind him, one side all off-white walls with other halls and doors facing the massive hydro-electrical wheels, would be hard to run through. Can he even remember which door the loading bay was behind? And can he find it before he gets caught by the trio who brought him in earlier?
Oy, Kyuketsuki is still running a business here; he has to monitor things and make sure the operations are moving in order. It's not that he doesn't think Chargebolt is a threat. It's that he figured the hero needed some quiet time to get his head wrapped around things.
Apparently he wasn't lying about wanting to keep Denki safe. Without power, people will turn to other sources. Those with Electrical Quirks... Kyuketsuki frowns at the mention of heroes, of facing danger, protecting.]
I'm guessing you mean that blonde guy. The loud, angry one that treats you like shit. [He stops by an elevator and sweeps his card along the pad, waiting a second before the door opens with a 'ding' and reveals a gray fabric-lined room. Kyuketsuki steps in and leans his back against the wall, arms crossed more like a petulant teenager than a full grown adult.] What are you going to do? Walk out of here and charge Japan's top three power corporations with suspected sabotage and hostile takeovers?
No one will believe you. And those plans will keep moving forward. Once this nation falls into darkness... you, your family, anyone else with Electric Quirks, fuel Quirks, you think you'll be safe out there in the dark? Hunted by the very people you're supposed to protect? [He looks at Chargebolt, golden eye almost seeming to glow behind the dangling gilded fringe.] You'll be turned into a resources, Kaminari. Drained dry until you're all used up.
[ He doesn't like how this is going at all, and wonders how much he's messed up already for this to go so wrong. The fact that the guy really seems to want to protect him, to keep him safe from being used as a battery, makes it difficult to plan a fight with him. No matter the fucked-up methods he used, he just seems to think he's doing something good... or fucking with his head.
The underestimating of heroes spikes a bit of anger, though, and the jab at his boyfriend? Sparks start to fly all around the electric hero. ]
Dynamight does not treat me like shit! He's the best thing that ever happened to me. [ Denki snaps through clenched teeth, giving Kyuketsuki a glare. ] I'm not going to the press and yelling it out! You underestimate how many underground heroes we have that can get out all the information they need. They will believe me, and we will stop it.
[ His gold eyes light with the volts behind them, giving them a slight glow. Being without his electricity for half a day - in his knowledge - really souped him up when he tapping into it. It feels like a thunderstorm, eagerly pumping through his veins. He can't use it in this elevator thing, but once they step outside? ]
Your help is misguided, Kyuketsuki-san. What about all these people with generating powers that are not trained as heroes? That is who you should be protecting. The innocents I swore to protect and have bled for.
[ 'I can't let that happen to you'. Kaminari sighs. ]
[The elevator dings and then drops with a hum, smoothly riding down the shaft as easily as a stone dropped into water. Kyuketsuki rests his hands behind him as he leans his shoulders to the wall, eyes lingering on Chargebolt and occasionally drifting to the wall. At least the fabric-covered surface doesn't offer the weird reflections some fancy elevators have.
He doesn't seem to mind the surge of power beside him, attention drawing to the sparks. The look in his eyes is akin to a child seeing fireworks or lightning, a quiet awe and fascination obvious in his two-toned gaze.]
Sometimes that's hard to believe. [His words are less of a challenge and more a thoughtful reminder. Yelling at Denki or abandoning him to the press, always looking surly and not happy to be there unless he's boasting over his success, not a word of teamwork unless it's to boost his own leadership...] Oh, I'm aware of underground heroes. I'm also aware that some of those heroes can be bought.
[The ugly truths of hero corruption, even if exposed, doesn't mean expunged. With a soft "bong" noise, the elevator comes to a stop and opens up to a far more "business-like" area of the power plant. People work on computers and machines, offices with presentations going, readouts on long strips of "paper" that form a mobius strip for reusing the sheets, complete with bleaching and drying. A series of elevated, barred catwalks serve as hallways above the busy floor and Kyuketsuki leads Chargebolt onto them.
Provided he follows. The man turns to face him, silently watching in a quiet but obvious admiration.]
I'm leaving that up to the heroes. What I can do now is prepare for the oncoming struggle... and protect my own.
[As for that last statement, his eyes linger on Denki's own.]
[ Sometimes that's hard to believe. Hard to believe what? That Katsuki makes him happy? That waking up with him is the best part of the day, no matter how misaligned their morning/evening sleep schedule is? The explosive blond might not show it to all the 'extras', but he's really kind and caring, just in his own way.
He doesn't like the press, so he leaves it for Denki who loves showboating. Dynamight's teamwork is impeccable, you don't need to be nice to make that work... and the man yelling at him makes his dick happy to the point of him provoking his boyfriend on the regular.
He's probably out there right now, looking for him and being more and more worried and angry as time passes. Kyuketsuki is making himself an enemy. ]
We've weeded through a lot of the corrupted heroes. I'm not saying there are none, but it's pretty damn easy to know who to trust. If you don't trust heroes, that's fine, but I do. We can stop this!
[ Chargebolt snaps back, walking out on the catwalk after the man. The people working below takes a bit of the heat from his anger as he's once again quite impressed with the way the place is ran. Reusing the paper?
...Denki, concentrate. ]
I am not yours!
[ That admiration, that lingering gaze? Fuck. ]
I'm leaving to warn my people. Try to stop me, and I'm shocking you.
[The public sees what the public's shown. If more tolerable or acceptable behavior is hidden away behind closed doors, well then, there's no way for people to realize there's more to him than an angry, arrogant man who believes himself superior to others. Not everyone has the greatest opinion of Dynamight, bu then again, Endeavor went through--and is still going through--the same sort of thing. Chargebolt is merely biased because he knows the truth that most others don't. Easy as that.
Kyuketsuki knows he's already "the enemy" the moment he brought Chargebolt in the way he had. But there are reasons or his actions and he doesn't regret the methods, and expects the results.]
So how would you plan on stopping this? [The man resumes walking across the catwalks, eyes down to look over the edges and keep his attention on his workers. His tone is back to something more casual, a genuine interest in Kaminari's idea. Simply saying the heroes can stop it is one thing; having concrete plans on doing so with actions to go along is a far better argument than blind hope and trust.] You don't know how close they are to finishing their efforts.
[There's a fine line here, knowing Chargebolt is teetering on an edge of angry action and keeping his own tolerant calm.]
Your people already took one of mine. [Blesk rests his hand on the railing beside him, looking over his shoulder at the young hero, his expression hard.] So I cannot trust them. Again, I'll ask... How would you plan on stopping this darkness?
[ The public only needs to know that he's the best. A hero they can always count on. He might not always be the most polite or nice guy, but people are saved - and a stern voice and glare often helps those panicked and frightened to sort themselves out.
...plus it's not like there's not a hundred photos out there of Dynamight and Chargebolt together. Many of them selfies with the guy scowling in the background, but Denki looks really happy every time. Candid ones where they lean on eachother after a difficult battle, or the one that blew up media - the lightning-explosion earrings.
Denki crosses his arms as he glares at the man again. He's not the most excellent tactician and he's going into this blind... but he can't let this guy talk him around like this. ]
We would use our underground and surveillance heroes to gain information and find the people behind it. Make sure all hospitals and important places have updated emergency power. Make power stations in hero agencies to help people find them and get important things charged. Place police and heroes to direct traffic in dangerous areas. The rest I shouldn't tell you, since you obviously have some kind of tie to these people.
[ He meets the man's mismatched eyes with a glare. ]
...so I would make sure you tell me every little detail about their plan.
[The best bad-influence monster their kids can have as a role model. Most people are actually fine with Dynamight. As "fine" with him as they are/were with Endeavor before Dabi utterly smeared his reputation, something he still has to struggle with even now. Dynamight has to deal with some of those naysayers as well, but he doesn't care. People are saved, disasters averted, and anyone who doubts him can shut the fuck up and watch his success continue despite their problems with him.
He's still a little miffed at the selfies and photos that get posted of him, his boyfriend, him and his boyfriend. A lot of them from Denki himself. He trusts his boyfriend not to show anything sensitive but it's still annoying when he gets blowback from it out on the field. Mostly in the form of people teasing him or wanting interviews. Bastards.
Kyuketsuki starts moving on the catwalk again, continuing to another hallway on solid ground. he keeps his pace with Chargebolt, actively listening to his response as they move.]
So despite me kidnapping you... you'd be willing to accept my information and work with it to try and prevent this disaster from happening? [It doesn't sound like he disbelieves, Kaminari, but more that he's double checking what he just heard.] Provided, of course, that I tell you everything I know about the potential threats.
[ Kids love the loud flashy heroes and Dynamight is one of the loudest and flashiest ones. (At least he doesn't have eugenics as a hobby, so he's probably safe from the Endeavor treatment.) The explosive hero gets shit done, success after success in his wake. This might he the first one that isn't going well, a whole lot of nothing with criticisms on top of that.
Like it isn't hard enough already, having his lover on the line.
...said lover is following his kidnapper off of the catwalk, joining at his side rather than keeping behind him like before. Whatever was happening here could be more important than his own sudden imprisonment and he needs to know more. The gold eyes are serious, trying to read this weird man and his weirder reactions. ]
Of course I would. A disaster like this is more important than your treatment of me. If you help me, I'm sure I could overlook the kidnapping and make sure you're not charged.
[ A minor lie, but if the man does provide him with information that could help stop this, he would definitely get a reduced sentence. ]
Tell me everything, Kyuketsuki-san. Do the right thing.
[There's far other Endeavor-similar things that people can and do pin on Dynamight that have nothing to do with the flame hero's dirty background. His arrogance and his attitude are usually the points the explosive blonde's detractors point out when comparing him to Endeavor. But Kaminari's right; the kids love the flashy tough guy with the bad attitude. Even if some parents are very pissed off their kids have started to swear due to their love for Dynamight. Censors be damned. Literally.
Kyuketsuki doesn't seem to mind Chargebolt coming to his side, walking with him easily as they move off the catwalk and head further down the carpeted hall. A glance aside notes the electric blonde's serious expression. Well that's an improvement from what it could've been. He hasn't gone running off to try and escape.]
Be careful about throwing "the right thing" around, Kaminari. You should know well enough by now that what's "right" isn't the same for everyone.
[Finally he walks into a large office, the oval doorway flanked by large glass walls opening up into a room lined with books and screens and some crisp furniture that combines neat with comfortable. Kyuketsuki heads for the large desk in the rear center of the room. Some of the screens are showing displays of data, some are cycling through videos of Mizudenki's security cameras, one plays the news. Books ranging from natural rivers to electric engineering and environmental academics. Looks to be a place he spends a good deal of time.]
In order for any company to gain a monopoly, they have to offer something better than all their competitors. Electricity and power is common enough, so the best way to gain control of that is to be the only one offering it. So the question comes down to, what are their plans first? To take out their competitors or to trigger the national blackout.
[ There are always going to be those who doesn't like a hero, from the hero's attitude to their values and even petty, insignificant things such as their appearance. It's impossible to please everyone, so coming in with the attitude of not giving a shit what anyone thinks is both a good idea and a bit of a curse.
Jeanist's PR team must have their hands full sometimes, placating angry parents. ]
You wouldn't kidnap me and tell me about these things if you didn't want to do 'the right thing', even if some might see it as subjective. I know not everyone might have the same values- [ He rubs the scar above his brow, just below the dressing he was given by the 'American'. ] -but do right by the people of Japan.
[ Chargebolt is earnest in what he's saying, but he's also sticking in the little hints of connection there. Trying to make Kyuketsuki sympathize with him.
The office is fancy, but with how the rest of the place is built, he's not surprised. The screens catch his eyes quickly, and while the data tells him nothing, the security camera feed and the news are more interesting.
Is that... really today's date? ]
If they are all planning on this blackout disaster is sounds like they want to duke it out while it's happening, but there has to be more to that.
[Midnight had to deal with the whole appearance thing, ironically enough. Though most of that was people too shocked to see such skin. (Or thinking their children shouldn't see it.) Dynamight's well aware about trying to please everyone (and honestly doesn't give a shit about doing so). Whether they like him or hate him, so long as they realize he's the greatest hero the world has ever seen, capable of being the one they can always trust in to win and save, that's his entire goal.]
What's "right" for me, kidnapping you, didn't sound like it's the "right" for you. [He merely points that out as an example rather than some kind of protest or deflection. Still, when Chargebolt mentions doing right by the nation, Kyuketsuki hums quietly in thought as he takes a seat behind his desk. Fancy chair. Definitely a boss chair.] Have the people of Japan always done right by Japan?
[He presses down on the surface of the desk and a laptop screen pops up from it. Probably an expected question from a man who's put so much effort into running his business as "green" as possible for the land, water, and air around him. Most environmentalists would address such things in any sort of moral questioning. Kaminari's probably heard the like before, whether sincere or sarcastic or antagonistic.
And yes, that's really today's date. A full day and a half since he responded to the distress at the power plant.]
Of course there's more. How they're planning on doing it, how best to stop them, how to prevent them from trying it again. [Kyuketsuki's fingers wander across the keyboard, bringing up yellow hologram images on the surface of the desk.] You weren't involved when the heroes went against Overhaul's yakuza branch, were you.
[ That's quickly becoming his thing... win to save. The public can't ignore that and if Denki has any say, he's gonna hype that up as much as possible. He's so proud of Katsuki, an eager simp for his boyfriend and providing those little glimpses of a more human side of the mighty Great Explosion God.
Kyuketsuki's semantics makes the blonde shrug slightly. ] You did a bad thing, but you can make up for it. It can be the right thing in the end. [ Denki says as he watches the man sit down in the chair and being even more tech fancy.
It isn't surprising to hear the eco talk of humanity ruining nature, no. It's a common argument and he simply looks at one of the screens of the plant's data. ] Your work here is proof that some things are done right.
[ He's doing his best to sound confident, but the new knowledge of how long he's been gone is fucking the electric blonde up a bit. No wonder he's exhausted and starving in the middle of all of this. He needs to get the information and get out. ]
Then tell me about that, too.
[ Is the reply, before his eyes widen a little at the holographic display. That's so cool, and fuck, he needs to stop being so impressed. ]
The Overhaul thing...? No, that was the Nighteye, Ryukou and Fat Gum teams. What does that have to do with any of this?
[ As far as he knows, Overhaul is institutionalized and the whole yakuza fell apart with their old boss left comatose. ]
[Kyuketsuki seems to contemplate the comment for a few seconds before giving in with a small smile.] Heroes really are amazing people. [His fingers fly across the keyboard, summoning up more information and holograms on the surface of the desk.
His work here... Guess that's not hard to disagree with. Though the same old issue of what's considered "right" between different people and groups will never completely go away. He understands where Kaminari is coming from at least.]
Because that is the kind of thing we would be dealing with. One cannot simply waltz into the top office of a national electric company and accuse them of wanting to cause a blackout of the entire nation in an effort to silence their competitors and emerge with a monopoly on Japan's electrical resources.
[With a final flourish of his fingers, Kyuketsuki sends three holographic buildings flying up onto the surface of the desk, sitting above a slightly-tilted 3D model of Japan splayed out across the desk. Kaminari might have to wander around the desk to look at them better if he wants.]
Chisaki Kai usurped leadership of only one branch of the underground yakuza. There are more yakuza factions than his, even though the general public would like to refer to the yakuza as merely one overarching entity. Like any national "underground" or "gang" society, yakuza are broken up into branches, sects, groups, and other organizations, even if the Heroes and All Might have largely wiped them out of public concern.
[ Denki isn't really sure what to think of that comment. It's... weird, how this guy acts. Walking closer to the desk, he looks over to the holograms and tries to make sense of them. The way Kyuketsuki talks and how he runs this place is really amazing for the environment, and if this didn't happen, he would be so on board to promote and help out with electric quality checks.
Instead the man kidnaps him and fucks everything up.
At the same time, it's not wrong, the things he says - but Chargebolt's already explained how their underground and surveillance heroes could find enough evidence. Heroes were not as spread thin any more like they used to be.
He just needs to know who they are.
Then the holograms changes to buildings, and he does his best to see if he can recognize any of them and their placement. It's difficult, though... and Denki's in a shitty situation. ]
[It's a guarded sort of conversation, letting small things come through to test and see Chargebolt's reactions to know whether it's safe to bring out more intense pieces of this topic. As the blonde looks at the desk, it's soon going to become apparent the buildings summoned up are simply placeholders. There are no schematics or specific representation of the other companies' plant models.
Kyuketsuki frowns and rests his elbows on the desk surface, lacing his fingers as he focuses on the building markers in front of him. Yes, it's true that Chargebolt has faith in the heroes being able to maneuver through the underground and carry out their own inspections and surveillance, but that's the problem with this. The heroes would be doing it. And as they saw in the past, heroes have agendas and bias.]
I believe one of them has ties with the yakuza. The other two are focused on their own resources...
[The man's mismatched eyes flick up towards Chargebolt.]
How foolish of me would it be to ask for your help, and silence, on this?
[ Damn, the buildings being placeholders sucks; he's got a pretty good relationship with some of the power plants and remembers the look of some of them. His parents even work at one.
...fuck, they have to be so worried. He's been gone a whole day longer than he thought.
It's a pity Kyuketsuki doesn't trust heroes. Chargebolt has all the fate in his fellow UA graduates after everything they've gone through. They might be young, but they have more experience with nasty things than most seasoned heroes.
Hearing that it's just one of these supposed disaster-planning villains is possibly involved with the yakuza is a bit of a relief. Dealing with both that and the plans would be messy. They tended to have a lot of very loyal underlings.
Denki meets that strange mismatched gaze with a serious one of his own. ]
I will help you, but I can't do it alone. We need more people, Kyuketsuki-san. I already offered to help you avoid being charged for my kidnapping, but I can't keep this dangerous disaster plan from the people that need to be involved.
[ He also leans his hand on the desk, even if he's standing. ]
Let me contact Dynamight and my agency. We can stop this.
[ So determined, so trusting, so ready to fight. A pity he's missing the waning signs. ]
[Kyuketsuki's taking some precautions of his own, not wanting to outright blame a certain identified company to someone whom he knows has a working relationship with plenty of the larger power plants around the nation.
There's a reason he doesn't trust heroes... but that's only a quiet hint that can be surmised due to his words and hesitance. Though he's still discussing this with Chargebolt, taking his time as if getting adjusted to the idea in his mind.
The yakuza is still pretty reduced due to the Heroes and All Might. Their strongest time, when the vigilantes ruled, is merely a glory of the past, a faded dream that the remaining members skulking around in the shadows would only hope to aspire towards. Overhaul had been one of those, ambitions giving rise to his plans and actions.
Kyuketsuki falls silent at the agreement to help. It's obvious he can't send Denki in there alone, nor does he want to. The reminder of his offer to avoid the kidnapping charge is likewise another point to Chargebolt's favor.]
All right. You've convinced me.
[He leans back in his chair and stretches his arms over his head.]
But I want to work through a proxy. If word gets out that I'd kidnapped you, even if my reasoning was fair, albeit selfish, I could have trouble. And I can offer my own people to help your team as well.
[ Denki's face relaxes into relief and a smile returns to his previously stressed features. He managed to convince the guy, and now they could work on the disaster at hand. The request to work through a proxy makes sense, and by now he really will put in a good word for his kidnapper, even if he might not escape all charges. He still has a terrible headache, after all. ]
That's wonderful, Kyuketsuki-san! Please let me have a phone and I'll call them right away. They're going to be worried at first, especially my boyfriend, but they'll come around when I explain the situation. It will all work out.
[ It's a sweet smile now, excited to see Katsuki (and make sure that he's not gonna blow up Kyuketsuki). They could now prevent this disaster from happening, and they could make sure things were prepared if it still went down. ]
I'm glad we could settle something.
[ Eagerly, he waits to be handed a phone or showed to one. ]
[Kyuketsuki at least seemed to be annoyed that his workers had hurt Kaminari, but there was little he cold do about it after the fact asides from medication and some rest. The lack of push back on the proxy request was appreciated. Despite the ill-fated but well-executed kidnap because I care plan, it seems Chargebolt is willing to offer his help.
When the blonde lights up about it, Kyuketsuki's expression mirrors it, happy to see Kaminari smile like that. As for the request, that puts a slight falter on him and he purses his lips in thought. How best to do this...]
What do you think would be best? To call from here, or elsewhere? They'll trace whatever call you make.
[Leading to Mizudenki's lines and or at least the location, which won't help with the request for a proxy and would just make anyone involved in this suspicious despite Kyuketsuki's vouch. Probably not the best idea to go into a working partnership with people who immediately think he's some nefarious villain...]
[ The smile remains, and Chargebolt seems ready to go despite his rather ragged state. He's tired and hungry, but this is a lot more important. He's dealt with things in a worse mood.
As for Kyuketsuki's question, the blonde gives a slight nod. ]
I think it would be good to call from here and get some heroes to this location to help plan things together with us. I will vouch for you, Kyuketsuki-san. As long as you are helping us, I'll keep you out of trouble. I promise.
[ He leans a bit closer over the desk. ]
...and if that doesn't work for you, you could leave me here with an intercom or something to talk to you with. No personal involvement.
[Kyuketsuki frowns in thought. There are some things he has to weigh here as well. Obviously there are trackers looking for Kaminari's kidnappers. And for him to suddenly turn up at a power plant, that will lay suspicions on Mizudenki immediately. Who would believe that a power plant wouldn't be involved with the kidnapping of an electric Hero? Even if Chargebolt says they had nothing to do with it, Kyuketsuki doesn't trust people enough not to immediately go for the tabloids.]
I wish I could trust the heroes as much as you do. Unfortunately, despite the improvements, I'm one of the stubborn skeptics.
[He pushes himself up from the desk.]
Why don't you get something to eat and drink, take a small break and wash up? I'll prepare something for you to contact... what was his name... Dymarie? for a quick message. I'd like a moment to detail how I play into this, though I'll accept whatever coverstory or vouch you come up with.
[Likely he would use an intercom. It's more the reality of people asking how Chargebolt came to be in a power plant in the first place? Did the kidnappers throw him over the bridge and he washed into Mizudenki's strainer fencing? Was he sold by the kidnappers and Kyuketsuki surreptitiously purchased him with the intent to free him rather than use him? Or should they stage Chargebolt being found elsewhere and they keep Mizudenki's involvement completely anonymous for the time being...
There are a lot of spins that can be put on this that could be dangerous. Plus it would involve Denki's lying.]
no subject
There are three groups [one hand with three fingers held up] behind three power company chains [second hand with three fingers held up] that plan to follow All for One's machinations and become the sole power suppliers of Japan.
no subject
...I'm not strong enough to make up the difference either, if that's what you think.
no subject
Not when people would come after you.
no subject
You didn't need to do this.
no subject
I... I can't let that happen to you.
no subject
I'm not yours to make such decisions for.
no subject
[As for that last statement, his eyes linger on Denki's own.]
... you are now.
no subject
Try to stop me, and I'm shocking you.
no subject
How would you plan on stopping this darkness?
no subject
...plus it's not like there's not a hundred photos out there of Dynamight and Chargebolt together.
...so I would make sure you tell me every little detail about their plan.
no subject
[It doesn't sound like he disbelieves, Kaminari, but more that he's double checking what he just heard.] Provided, of course, that I tell you everything I know about the potential threats.
no subject
Do the right thing.
no subject
To take out their competitors or to trigger the national blackout.
no subject
If they are all planning on this blackout disaster is sounds like they want to duke it out while it's happening, but there has to be more to that.
no subject
[Kyuketsuki's fingers wander across the keyboard, bringing up yellow hologram images on the surface of the desk.] You weren't involved when the heroes went against Overhaul's yakuza branch, were you.
no subject
no subject
Like any national "underground" or "gang" society, yakuza are broken up into branches, sects, groups, and other organizations, even if the Heroes and All Might have largely wiped them out of public concern.
no subject
Instead the man kidnaps him and fucks everything up.
At the same time, it's not wrong, the things he says - but Chargebolt's already explained how their underground and surveillance heroes could find enough evidence. Heroes were not as spread thin any more like they used to be.
He just needs to know who they are.
Then the holograms changes to buildings, and he does his best to see if he can recognize any of them and their placement. It's difficult, though... and Denki's in a shitty situation. ]
So... they're all yakuza?
no subject
Kyuketsuki frowns and rests his elbows on the desk surface, lacing his fingers as he focuses on the building markers in front of him. Yes, it's true that Chargebolt has faith in the heroes being able to maneuver through the underground and carry out their own inspections and surveillance, but that's the problem with this. The heroes would be doing it. And as they saw in the past, heroes have agendas and bias.]
I believe one of them has ties with the yakuza. The other two are focused on their own resources...
[The man's mismatched eyes flick up towards Chargebolt.]
How foolish of me would it be to ask for your help, and silence, on this?
no subject
...fuck, they have to be so worried.
no subject
And I can offer my own people to help your team as well.
no subject
That's wonderful, Kyuketsuki-san! Please let me have a phone and I'll call them right away. They're going to be worried at first, especially my boyfriend, but they'll come around when I explain the situation. It will all work out.
[ It's a sweet smile now, excited to see Katsuki (and make sure that he's not gonna blow up Kyuketsuki). They could now prevent this disaster from happening, and they could make sure things were prepared if it still went down. ]
I'm glad we could settle something.
[ Eagerly, he waits to be handed a phone or showed to one. ]
no subject
When the blonde lights up about it, Kyuketsuki's expression mirrors it, happy to see Kaminari smile like that. As for the request, that puts a slight falter on him and he purses his lips in thought. How best to do this...]
What do you think would be best? To call from here, or elsewhere? They'll trace whatever call you make.
[Leading to Mizudenki's lines and or at least the location, which won't help with the request for a proxy and would just make anyone involved in this suspicious despite Kyuketsuki's vouch. Probably not the best idea to go into a working partnership with people who immediately think he's some nefarious villain...]
no subject
As for Kyuketsuki's question, the blonde gives a slight nod. ]
I think it would be good to call from here and get some heroes to this location to help plan things together with us. I will vouch for you, Kyuketsuki-san. As long as you are helping us, I'll keep you out of trouble. I promise.
[ He leans a bit closer over the desk. ]
...and if that doesn't work for you, you could leave me here with an intercom or something to talk to you with. No personal involvement.
no subject
