[Yeah, it's the lack of his idiot boyfriend that's pissing Dynamight off to the point of yelling at police workers. The continued addition of more and more clues that keep getting more and more disturbing and pointing is another tax on his already-concerned mind. He wants answers and he wants them now! The first 24--48 hours after a kidnapping are most important!
Blood on the wall and a broken visor. Shit...
Bakugou opts to leave the building, letting the forensics and search units do their things without him getting in the way. He heads for the south side with the man and his dog, determined to start his own search there. The back area. No fucking shit. With a service road no doubt. If someone sabotaged this plant in order to lure Chargebolt here, then pounced him while he was in here alone looking for the failsafe...]
Tossed. Unless they're fucking idiots and decided to throw a tracker out the damn window.
[But if Chargebolt was hit on the head inside, his visor had a good chance of being knocked off. So finding it outside, which would've been after he got hit and taken, if they hit him inside, how the hell was he able to throw his visor off? Shit, they really need security footage to know, but with the building's main system fried...]
A lot of vehicles arrived here while he was working, but so far none of them have left that we've seen. Why was no one stationed at the back of the building while Chargebolt was working on rescuing people?
"I'm afraid I don't know. It's possible that it was an oversight, considering everyone believed it was a rescue mission and not a kidnapping."
[ The S&R man says, and he looks worried. Obviously they fucked up somehow, but why would someone grab a hero like this? The fact that it all seems to have been a whole setup to get Chargebolt on the scene eludes him.
Meanwhile, the support team crackles in Dynamight's ear. ]
"We got a garbage truck leaving the service road a few minutes after the last employees were saved. Traffic cameras caught it, but the plates are false. The person driving the truck is obscured, but we're looking for details."
[ Cracked on the head and possibly stuffed in a garbage truck? Damn, no respect for their target at all. Whoever grabbed Kaminari didn't care for his safety, which is concerning. Unharmed victims are easier to ransom, but that might not be their plan at all... why go through so much trouble for a fairly new and lower-ranked hero? ]
A perimeter is one of the first things to do during a fucking rescue mission.
[Dynamight snarls at the man for the excuse. It didn't matter if it was a rescue mission or a kidnapping, all points should've been covered! Fuck, even if it was a rescue, there should've been a perimeter just in case someone ran out the back or something! Now they've got a missing here and for some fucking shit reason, NO ONE seems to know jack shit about what happened. Chargebolt didn't vanish into thin air either!
He turns to the side, resting a hand over his ear to cover up the piece and block out the noise around him.]
A garbage truck? Fucking serious? [And turns back to the S&R man.] Go ask any of the plant staff about a garbage truck on the premises today. Got a report the plates are a fucking fake.
[Does this place have a basement or a bunker of any kind? Dynamight heads towards the service road, eyes narrowing down the length of it. More than half an hour since it'd left... Trying to find it would be a fucking ridiculous. Garbage is going out today anyways, so there could be a shitload of them all over the streets. Even at this hour. The police are going to keep tracking that one through the street cams, so there's no much he can do until they either lose the truck or pinpoint where it stopped.
He goes back to the radio as he heads for the man in charge of the operation.]
Get Pinky and Red Riot on the line. I'm gonna meet up with Cellophane here.
[ The man bows his head at that; there's nothing that can be done now. Between the electrified fence in the back and the missed point of perimeter, the damage is already done and one young hero has paid for it.
When he's told to go back and ask the employees about the garbage truck, he heads off quickly to avoid more scolding from Dynamight. He heads through the power plant to go back, and it doesn't look like the place has any kind of basement. No need for a place to store generators and other such things when they have a whole electrical network.
Garbage truck on garbage day. Pretty clever. All of this is pretty damn smart... nothing some two-bit villains out for cash can orchestrate. ]
"Red Riot is on his way over to you, but he's three hours out from Kansai and Fatgum's Agency. We'll get him and Pinky on the line ASAP."
[ The support staff report into Dynamight's ear as he heads towards the person in charge. There's an area set up with more police cars and a surveillance van, working together with the support team to track the garbage truck. The one in charge, an older man with a headset, turns to meet the explosive hero. ]
"Dynamight. All employees have been accounted for and there have been no extra people inside the site before the earthquake. One technician remembers the garbage truck arriving outside a few minutes before the quake hit, which was expected."
[Dynamight is someone who'll rail and yell at someone for a mistake, but he's not one to continue to harp over it after having his say. The team knows what they have to work on next time. There's no point in wasting time continuing to talk about it when said time could be used to improve and move forward with the current work to be done.
Though they might wanna put up a fucking perimeter just in case. PRACTICE, YOU FUCKING SLACKERS!!
Less a basement for storing supplies and more for holding, tanks, piping, wiring, and other such things that could clutter up the building even further. But no, this place doesn't have one, so that's out the window. This garbage truck is a more probable lead.
Yeah, yeah. Someone pulled garbage truck on garbage day a few years ago to disguise a bank heist. It was one of Mirko's first cases, blowing everyone who thought "a bunny girl" had no business handling bank robbers. They thought all she could do was talk big, jump high, and kick hard. Ha! Sometimes the media and masses could be so fucking stupid...
But it's the planning and concealment that makes Dynamight more concerned. This was staged, and Chargebolt was the deliberate victim. Whether they plotted to take down the power plant to draw him out or capitalized on an emergency situation is one of the two main questions.]
I don't need him over here. Cellophane and I should be fine for this part. I need his and Pinky's eyes on the fucking phone.
[Denim Head can scold him for his language later (he never listens, RIP his poor image-savvy mentor - HE'LL OUT-STUBBORN YOU!!). Dynamight stops in front of the head of the team, composure recovered, though still looking a dark thunderstorm.]
Tsk. Shit... That doesn't answer that question. Now we don't know if they planned this or took advantage of it. Has there been any word on what caused the issue in the first place? Electric surge? Equipment malfunction?
[As much as he wants to chase after the garbage truck, that's needle-in-a-haystack territory and he's better off working out a motive and leaving the tracking to people who can do all their cyber media sweeps better than his eyes can.]
And what's the status on Chargebolt's comm?
[Obviously his device could be tracked, GPS and all, but unless they're dealing with idiots, that's likely been shut off or jammed. After all, these people may have purposefully thrown out his visor for the same caution. Leaving his pointer gear, but if that was online, Mei would've already contacted him...
He's sending a text to ol' Crosshair Eyes anyways.]
"I can do both, man. You need someone there and I'm not staying over here when one of our squad is missing."
[ Kirishima's voice says in the comm, soon followed by Ashido's greeting as well. Meanwhile, a tall beanpole of a man is also waving his hand up in the crowd, making his way over to join up as well. Their little high school friend group, all together... but for once not for something fun like drinks and karaoke night.
The operations leader looks over at Dynamight again just as Sero joins up. ]
"The earthquake hit and caused a collapse inside, while also tearing several of the transistors and snapping cables. The result is what we saw earlier, and it all would have been easily dealt with if it wasn't for the failsafe not functioning. Instead the whole place became an electrically charged death trap."
[ What caused the earthquake? Three young heroes say at once, even if Dynamight is the only one that can hear two of them. ]
"It was a smaller, localized quake. Now that we know that it is a crime scene, it's more likely that it was a quirk in use."
[ None of this was an accident. Chargebolt was screwed as soon as he got to the site. ]
"No signs of his comms, or the tracking in his support gear, clothes or the hidden ones Eraserhead sometimes asks us to add randomly. Either they're somehow all been taken offline at the same time, or there's something jamming any form of signals."
[ The support team finally adds in the earpiece. It leaves a very blank map of what to do next. ]
I want you two to look at Chargebolt's social media accounts. See if he's been talking with someone weird or if there's anyone posting suspicious shit. If he's been kidnapped, someone's chosen him for a fucking reason.
[Not that he's wanting to bring up his own past, but the entire reason the League of Villains went after him was due to his attitude and commentary. After that bastard Shigaraki continued to hammer it in that he'd lost interest in him.
While Dynamight doesn't really want Kirishima or Ashido to make the journey over here, he doesn't have much in the way of reasoning to force them to stay out... so he keeps that comment to himself. Also he's distracted by Sero popping up finally. Bakugou lifts a hand towards him to catch his eye. Poor Sero never managed to fill out. Just grew up. Tall and lanky forever.
Back to the operations leader.]
Che.
[If the earthquake itself was caused by a Quirk, then this entire thing was a fucking setup. That took a lot more planning than getting lucky and nabbing. Meaning someone really had it out for Kaminari or figured he was the best option to go for. Neither thought is positive.]
Hey Jeanist. [Speaking into his comm again.] Get Grand and tell him we need him down here.
[Despite their animosity at the start, Bakugou hated to say he'd grown more at ease around Yo Shindo over time. If anyone could tell them about a localized earthquake via a Quirk, it would be him. Dynamight and the others didn't need to be here when Grand did his inspections, but it'd be nice to have his thoughts on the matter.
Back to the leader again.]
When you find out why the failsafe didn't kick in, message me and Jeanist. We'll send it out to the others. If someone sabotaged the failsafe, then someone was in the fucking building before the earthquake hit. Meaning someone on the staff's fucking lying.
[Since they said no one strange had been in the building all day. Of course, perhaps they were able to break the failsafe remotely, but... that'd be pretty damn hard with all the electrical interference from the power plant. But with the knowledge they're probably jamming all of Chargebolt's gear, or taken it offline, Dynamight's not putting it past them.]
Right now, we need to rely on the traffic cameras to try and track the garbage truck.
[ That's definitely something they can do, especially Ashido. There's confirmation about it from the two in Dynamight's ear, and they start to work. Even Kirishima on the train has a phone to scroll through, but it might take a while. Chargebolt is very active on a lot of social media platforms, but aside from the occasional far too thirsty fan and the regular internet trolls, he hasn't told his boyfriend about anything weird.
Dynamight also gets a confirmation from Jeanist, who will contact Grand immediately. Consulting the experts is always a good idea, and even if it might take a while, it's necessary. Was it all planned? ]
"The failsafe technically could have been sabotaged at any time, as it only engages during something like this. I will check when the last maintenance was, and put more pressure on the employees."
[ The operations officer says with a nod. He turns to bark some orders to his underlings, and things are set in motion again. The collected mass of onlookers and press is still heavy behind the perimeter, including some arrived Chargebolt fans. ]
"I know procedures, but what do you need me to do? I talked to the Kaminaris earlier, Eraserhead is on his way over to them. The press is making it sound like he's dead."
[ Sero says as he checks over the latest reports. While their sensei doesn't do much hero work any more, he's definitely going to handle the family... at least the parent part of it. The other family is right here. ]
[Dynamight doesn't mind siccing those two on the job, focusing on the physical things here with Cellophane. It's going to be long, tedious, boring, and probably embarrassing or hilarious as fuck, but it's definitely one place to start searching. Considering news has already gone out about Chargebolt missing, there's a good chance people are going to start spamming his social media accounts with who the fuck knows what. One problem with his boyfriend being a social media whore...
Jeanist gets a grunt in the comm link as gratitude, but he should be used to that now. Sure seems like this was all planned. At least Grand is quick to pick up when Jeanist calls, curious about why the No. 3's contacting him. That conversation will probably go well. (Though he is in the middle of his own mission, so enjoy that.) Dynamight sticks beside Cellophane for now.]
Good idea. [Checking the last maintenance. The operations officer brings up a good point about it being sabotaged earlier, so get the fuck on that. But that also makes the plot behind this even more thought out... No offense, Chargebolt, but what fucking villain thinks that highly of you? This either better be some real pointed scheme or the worst kind of fan a hero could ever have! Bakugou cracks a wry smirk when the man barks at his underlings; Sero can scowl at him later for it.
Great, the media's been joined by the public. Even worse...]
Come on. [Dynamight turns from the scene, tilting his head towards Cellophane to invite him along.] You and I are gonna follow the road behind the building. At least it's one way, so we know they started heading in that direction.
[He narrows his eyes at Sero's other comment. It'll be better for Bakugou to be with one of his friends right now, but that doesn't mean he won't be an irritable bear for it.] The press better get their fucking act together. If he were dead, we'd've found his body by now. Unless they're some freaks who wanna string up his body in public somewhere, he's not dead.
Besides, you know how valuable electricity Quirks are. [Chargebolt is worth far more alive to any villain than he is dead. That's what he's going to keep telling himself at least.] Asides from all the shit we don't know, I wanna know why his visor was left behind. Either Dunce Face threw it out the window or something as a hint, or these people are stupid enough to leave it behind.
[And the latter one sounds ridiculous if this much planning and work went into his kidnapping. Dynamight blasts off, keeping his pace slower so Cellophane can stay with him. With their web of contacts and support reaching out to a bunch of different searches and looks, the two of them are gonna be more on radio standby during their search.]
The fucking Bird Brains are out on mission, so we're the eyes in the sky for this one.
[Bakugou can easily keep himself aloft and also let Sero use him as a point of grip for his tape to sling himself around in the sky as well, using his explosions to counter balance the pull needed to keep the other hero airborne.
It's only going to be a short while before Deku hears about this and everyone knows how he gets when it comes to friends being kidnapped... sheesh.]
[ There's plenty of cringe to go through already, and his accounts are being invaded with people hoping he's okay. Nobody gloating or taking responsibility, though, and the most serious thing on said social media whore's feed (between all the selfies) is discussing support items for people with deliberating quirks. He's a staunch advocate for making those things accessible to everyone, including the ones that want to be heroes.
Unless he's kidnapped for being pretty and funny, it's not the social media.
The police and others are focusing on the work ahead of them again, letting the two young heroes make their own plans on how to proceed. Sero quiets down as they talk about the press and the ideas of why Chargebolt should still be alive. Sero fully believes in it, but there's no stopping the way his gut feels cold. ]
"Considering that blood splatter, he was probably knocked over the head. Someone could have stabbed him, sure, but he would have shocked them. So most likely he was knocked out... how could he have tossed the thing? I mean, it led you in the right direction, didn't it?"
[ Maybe he somehow managed. Maybe someone was helping them. He's willing to believe that. Snapping some tape out to catch on to Dynamight, they set off into the sky.
The service road joins up with the main road about 400 yards down, and depending on the direction the garbage truck was headed towards Shizuoka city nearby or out to the larger highway. The city is the most likely, which is quickly backed up by the support team's surveillance.
It's lucky that Japan has such a wide net of cameras. ]
[And that's why he gave the task to Kirishima and Ashido. He certainly doesn't want to deal with all that shit. Nice to know people are wishing him well and hoping he's okay. Some might want to help with the investigation, but that'll never be a wanted thing when it comes to criminal activity. The rest of it is what he wants them to look for. Though Bakugou's 50/50 on whether or not Kaminari would tell him he has a stalker or a creeper on his account. Mostly because his boyfriend's the kind to... you know... explosively punch someone out who pops his boyfriend on the ass.
Anyways, those two'll know what to look for when it comes to red flags. Or they can outsource it to some of the media team.]
Unless they didn't knock him out and could just silence him.
[Which didn't explain why the blood splatter wasn't more if Kaminari was thrashing around. Somehow between the fucked up failsafe room and the area out the back, Kaminari lost the visor. Whether it was on purpose or on accident's the big question. Doesn't entirely help them, but...]
They might have thought it had a tracker in it, so got rid of it since it was cracked. The rest of his gear could be pawned or broken down for parts, so it makes sense they kept that if they had a way to disable the tracker inside.
[Talking himself through this logically helps keep him focused and not let his emotions rage too far out of control. Another reason why he told Sero to come along with him. And he figured the service road would join with the main road. With either direction possible. But just as he's about to start to scour the area, the surveillance team comes through for them.]
Shizuoka.
[And head's that way. Though it might be a far cry, he's keeping lower to the ground, looking for any possible blood stains. A ridiculous feat going at this speed, but... who knows. Also any garbage trucks.]
[ They'll handle it well enough. Ashido is just as much of a social media butterfly, she knows what to look for, and Kirishima has a lot of downtime being on a train. As for if a certain electric blonde would have told his boyfriend about stalkers or creeps? Absolutely. It's not like they could be blown up over the internet, and it's good to know.
Exactly in cases like these. Chargebolt might be known as 'dumb', but not socially. He weaves that like a master.
Flying and hanging on (and sometimes swinging from place to place) makes it hard to talk for Sero, since he's using more of his body to move - but the comms work well enough. ]
Silence him and stop his quirk from frying the attacker at the same time? Nah man, I'm still on the knocked-out theory. Unless they drugged him, but that doesn't explain the blood.
[ They're directed to the city, which is both good and bad. There's a lot of traffic and a lot of garbage trucks. ]
Weren't you and Deku born in this prefecture? Were you ever in the city?
[It's more Ashido's help he's counting on, but he wants Kirishima to have something to do while he travels rather than fret about everything he's hearing on the news. Give him a focus point, set him to task to help, and keep him busy as he moves. The fact Kaminari has never told his boyfriend about having a stalker or a creeper is a good indication that's probably not the case here. There'd be no one to immediately look at for suspicion.
Leave the social shit to him; Katsuki's glad Denki handles that kind of crap. He doesn't even deal with his own website, despite Best Jeanist's agency setting one up for him. (Kaminari probably has to handle it.)
One of those "yeah you do it, don't care" moments in Bakugou's life.
That's why there's comms, Sero. Ignore the occasional "boom" that happens nearby and in the link.]
Rubber. Insulated bindings. Grounding mats. There's a lot of ways to shut him up and kill his voltage at the same time. [Bakugou's still on the KO theory as well, mostly due to the bloodstain at head height on the walls. And the visor.] The fact they were in the building after he got everyone out says they were either there before or came in while no one was looking.
[CAUSE THE FUCKING PERIMETER WASN'T SET UP LIKE IT WAS FUCKING SUPPOSED TO, GODDAMMIT!!]
Yeah and yeah. [Meaning he'll know his way around once they get directs and landmarks. Bakugou lands atop one of the taller buildings nearby, scanning the glowing streets and dark rooftops below.] Why would they take him? Quirk. Ransom. Hostage. Murder. Message. Trade. Gotta be one of those six.
[ Thoughtful in his own way, as always. Helping his friends not worry themselves to death even while being the one with the most to lose.
Kaminari doesn't believe in secrets unless they're funny or he has something to tease about. They've been through enough shit already, so he's not hiding anything that could be a problem. He'll just block and move on if he has to; he does the same with the few things Bakugou has online.
Mostly it's selfies with the boyfriend, because ever since they were going loudly public with their relationship, the electric hero might have something of a thing about showing off his man. Both because he's happy and he's a little bit jealous sometimes. ]
"You know, it might not even be his blood."
[ Sero muses as he lands next to Bakugou, checking the other side. ]
"...I don't think murder. They would have killed him already, and what would the motive even be for that? I think either quirk or hostage. Maybe ransom, but I'm pretty sure the Commission doesn't do that no matter how better it is, now."
Edited 2022-07-20 02:32 (UTC)
honestly love the last few icons have been kaminari fighting
[Yeah, yeah. You can praise him later. Staying off the social media section has certainly been a good decision in his life. He doesn't have the distraction and doesn't care for the flood of junk that would otherwise be there. Most of his time spent on his phone is checking the news or things he's interested in, occasionally texting or calling people for short messages. Doesn't have time for that social media crap. Unless Kaminari wants to bring something funny or cool. to his attention that he found on one.
Bakugou's not all that restricting with the selfies either, trusting his boyfriend not to put up something embarrassing or personal (without knowing the fatal consequences, of course). It's not like he's got too much a problem with occasionally being shown off. He won't admit it, but he likes the attention in small doses.]
Maybe not, but Kaminari's not one to draw blood if he can help it.
[Plus it was on his visor as as well and the height of it on the wall was close to Denki's height. Still, he's far more likely to electrocute someone than bash them hard enough to spray red like that...]
Right. Another reason it's stupid the media's pushing for "death" already. [He frowns at the other ideas. Quirk or Hostage. Ransom would be stupid because the money would be recovered easily after paying.] A ransom would be pointless unless they planned to double cross at the end.
[ Every selfie and cute candid shot helps that popularity, too! Dynamight focusing on the most cases and saving everyone to be #1 is good and all, but showing him in a more domestic setting with a loving boyfriend kind of boosts his image. Plus the pic of them flying over the city got over two million likes!
...possibly because Chargebolt looks like he's screaming his lungs out. ]
"Yeah, I know. Things happen, though."
[ Sero still agrees, however. Kaminari doesn't really have the stomach for drawing blood, especially not like that. Zapping them is more likely. ]
"Hostage for what, though? Are they planning a bigger stunt?"
[ ...and why Denki, in that case? Even if he's a lesser ranked hero just starting out, he's not the easiest target... and they were definitely aiming for him.
There's no sign of the garbage truck with the false plates from their position, even if Sero swoops down to check every one they see. Surveillance is mentioning it going further into the city, and then it's quiet for a moment. ]
"Dynamight, Cellophane. We've lost visual of the truck. It headed down an alleyway without cameras to access, and has not appeared again."
[ They quickly send the street name and the coordinates. ]
[Looking "cute" is not what he fucking wants people to know him as, dammit! He's cool! Awesome! Dangerous! Victorious! Not "cute"! And yet 'somehow' those images continue to make their way into the world. Probably because in certain aspects, Bakugou can't say 'no' to his boyfriend. Growling out a "fine" after vetting the lesser of three evils when it comes to posting pictures.
The flight over the city had been fun. How Kaminari didn't lose his phone was a miracle.]
So what. There was only that spot and some on his visor. No one's bashing open fucking temples or stabbing knives.
[There wasn't a sign of some major struggle. A quick battle was what Bakugou expected happened. The further question only makes him furrow his brows more, glaring into the night.]
That or they think they can use him as some kinda... piece for something.
[A battery, a shield, a bargaining chip, some insurance. And they would know that taking Kaminari would get a number of eyes from Class 1-A on them. They still tend to look out for each other and take shit personally when someone goes after one of them. Don't go through a damn war together with all that social upheaval the way they did and not come out of it tight knit.]
Fuck, finally.
[A street name and coordinates. While he doesn't try to stop Cellophane's sweeping checks, Dynamight figures it's a waste of time and energy. Shooting into the dark won't help outside of incredible luck. But once he's got those two things...]
We're going, Scotch!
[And takes off into the air again, blasting towards the coordinates and street. Denki, you better be fucking alive or I swear I'll drag you back down from Heaven myself!]
[ He's the cute one! Bakugou is the hot accessory! Kaminari does 'ask' about uploading them though, which mostly means whining and pouts. Maybe some sexual promises. Or just outright challenges. The electric hero knows how to make his man fold. ]
"A piece. Like this kidnapping chess they're playing."
[ Sero says with a frown. He keeps checking garbage trucks because what if, but he knows it's waste of time. He just needs to do something or he'll crawl out of his skin. The coordinates coming through are a blessing, and he snaps his elbow out to tape himself to Dynamight again so they can take off.
Even with the quick soaring, it still takes them seven or so minutes to get to the right alley. Unfortunately it's not a small backside one-way thing, but an alley with fair amount of passage and cars driving by. The garbage truck is neatly parked to the side, so Sero swiftly swings down to tie the doors shut just in case anyone tried to make a run for it.
[Yeah but a picture with Bakugou in it that's tagged "cute" still sends a message! RAWR! Granted, he shoots himself in the foot cause he does allow them to go online. And/or doesn't demand Kaminari take any down that he puts up anyways. Whining and pouting are cheating and both of them fucking know it... oy, don't cajole embarrassing photos of him via sex and challenges! Brat.]
Guess you could look at it that way. Could use him as a shield, experiment, battery, bargain... Whatever. They know he's valuable.
[For his Quirk, for his safety, for his friendship, no one kidnaps a hero at random or in some void. There's always a reason behind it. A brief grunt as tape sticks to his back and he slams an explosion in place to brace himself as Sero pulls, giving the other hero the resistance needed to launch himself. It's a belay system they've got going on.
No, he doesn't expect to find anyone there when they arrive. But at least they've found the location the truck was last spotted, so that's progress. Except...]
FUCK! [This isn't some shitty back alley dead end! It's a full way busy street! At least the damn truck's there and Bakugou lands nearby while Sero preemptively seals the doors shut. Good thought, no comment, but pointless in result. They wouldn't still be here unless this was the place they wanted to make their final stand.]
OF COURSE THEY DIDN'T COMPACT HIM, YOU SHIT!
[He says. But that lie of assumption might be a cracked facade as Dynamight doesn't even wait to get inside and use the controls, but rather grabs the back of the garbage truck's door and rips the entire thing open if he has to. Hauls the metal up and shoves his face into his collar to avoid the smell that's gonna hit him full in the nose.]
[ Sero kind of wishes he would not be so damn blunt at times, shutting his mouth before he shoves his foot all the way up to the knee into it. Instead he cuts his tape off to start going through the front while the angry blonde tries to the compactor in the back apart. Thankfully there's a lever that easily opens it, so at least there was no need for explosions.
The smell is not pleasant, but not as horrible as it could be. There's no trash in the truck - instead there's a bunch of old tires and a mesh cage made from some form of metal. Its door is closed, but it's seemingly unlocked since the padlock is on the floor. Inside are what looks like a pile of clothes. A closer look reveals that it's Chargebolt's hero suit and equipment, sans a trademark choker. Even his underwear, so someone stripped him completely - possibly to avoid any bugs.
There's a little bit of blood on the floor of the mesh cage, but not enough to suggest a serious wound. ]
"You find anything?"
[ The taller hero asks from the front, just as the support team announces that the investigators and police are about five minutes away. If Dynamight opens the mesh cage's door, they'll also report that Chargebolt's comm and trackers are back on.
Once again it doesn't look great - the kidnappers could have changed vehicles here, and fully disappeared into the city. ]
[Yeah, he's over here being a muscle-bound angry idiot, prying the compactor back open with a glare and bared teeth, fighting against logical gear workings and everything. Only for Sero to climb inside and pull a fucking lever, whereupon Bakugou finds himself suddenly going straight up via his arm. A brief yelp before the tape-dispensing hero gets cussed out for almost ripping his damn shoulder out of place.
That's what you get for being more effective than one of the most effective heroes out there, Sero!
Bakugou drops to his feet, bouncing off the ledge of the garbage truck's hold, still not exactly keen on wading into a bunch of compacted garbage to look for someone who's likely not even there. But lucky for him, there's no trash. Just... tires. That gets him climbing inside immediately, igniting a small cluster burst in his hand to illuminate the back. Shit... From Kaminari's hero costume to rubber to some kind of cage made of metal. He glances at the floor of the cage, wondering if there's some kind of grounding pad there to keep the guy from electrifying the entire truck. Or if the tires were handling that (assumption). Couldn't have just been the tires, since he could still get a damn finger out on the metal unless his juice was completely drained.
There's... a far more personal level of rage at seeing his boyfriend's underwear... He knows it's to avoid wires or bugs, but... Bakugou shoves the thoughts out of his head.]
Yeah. There's a whole jury-rigged setup to keep him captured in here. This was fucking planned a long ways out.
[And quickly relays what he found into the comm, efficient detailed curtness included. He does open the mesh cage, only to growl about the report of Chargebolt's comm and tracker going online. Of course they are. He's fucking looking at them. Against his temptations, he avoids moving anything beyond the cage door. Leave that for the inspectors.]
They had to have some way to keep him from electrocuting everything in here, tires be damned. So either he was unconscious or drained or his Quirk was cancelled...
[ Nobody's gonna fault him for being a musclehead right now, he's earned it. It's just easier and leaves more clues for the investigators if things aren't torn apart or blow up.
At the mention of the jury-rigged thing, Sero sticks his head out of the front. These people definitely went hard on this. ]
"Shit, really?"
[ Sero makes his may to the back and climbs in, only to do an impressed whistle between his teeth. ]
"They put him in a whole-ass Faraday cage? That blocks all electrical signals and it protects from electricity. You can stand in one and have it shocked by lightning and it will shield you."
[ Thank you, random game trivia. ]
"So no matter what trackers he might have on him, they would all be useless. Protect the truck from his quirk, too. Then they probably switched cars... fuck."
[He might fault himself later for the occasional lapse in control here and there, but this event's personal beyond heroics and his concern is wrestling with his professionalism. Some might think he should stay off the case, due to his connection to it, but no one's going to voice that... Boom.]
No I'm shitting you. Yes really!
[Don't waste his time being flabbergasted, dammit! (He may have to somewhatkindapologize to Sero later for snarling at him throughout this mission, but that's for later.]
Tsk, wow, you recognized it. [Gritting his teeth and growling cause he forgot the official name for it despite knowing the function of said cage. Not letting Sero realize he momentarily one-upped him.] Yeah but if the lightning's coming from the inside out...
[Even if Kaminari could get so much as one finger out to touch the floor... well that's on a rubber mat, so never-fucking-mind; they took the simple precaution too. Probably also there to cushion the cage so it wouldn't bump around inside the back of the truck. Because garbage trucks are the smoothest of rides.]
The video only saw it turn down this alley, but it's not a dead end...
[He looks up the sides of the alley. Depending on the buildings, maybe someone in the buildings heard or saw something from looking out the window. Probably no luck on tire tracks leading out of the alley one way or another.]
[ If someone was stupid enough to tell him he was off the case, not even All Might could save them from the Bakusquad (and probably Bakugou himself). 1-A take care of their friends, and especially their little group.
Plus why waste the work when Dynamight knows Chargebolt the best?
Sero isn't bothered by all the outbursts and snapping, he kind of understands it. He'll probably accept an apology, but it's not like he expected his friend to be friendly while this was going on. ]
"It works on blocking things from the inside, too. If he even woke up, I feel like there would be more of a struggle to get him out if he was awake."
[ That would take precious minutes off of getting out of the truck and get into another car.
The buildings on the sides seem to be offices, with one side completely covered with a billboard and no windows. The other side has windows but looks like it's dark, but that doesn't mean there aren't people inside that might have seen something.
The police arrives just as Sero jumps out of the garbage truck as well, and starts putting up a perimeter, tape and photos. ]
[They likely know this and thus are not saying shit about keeping them off the case. Even Kirishima's going by train, despite being hours away. They've been through enough of kidnappings from their class already, and Bakugou's even more pissed because he knows what it's like to be kidnapped and it fucking sucks!
It's so tempting to vent his anger on the cage, so he gets out of the garbage truck and hangs off to the side to avoid putting his damn foot through the metal sides. Didn't seem like the cage itself was very roughed up either, so either Kaminari didn't try to get out of it or was prevented from making the effort.]
Unless they had a reason to get his cooperation.
[Whether he was still groggy from the head blow, was threatened to behave, or was already restrained, no fucking clue. The lack of concrete details helping in this case are frustrating, but... that's kind of the damn point of a kidnapping. Not to leave as many clues as possible.
Noticing the office building as the only viable target, Bakugou makes that his next target when the police arrive. He joins up with Sero as the other hero jumps out of the truck.]
Yeah. When you're done, let look inside and see if anyone might've seen something.
[No clue if anyone's in the dark building or not... but given the case around them, Bakugou's opting not to go in there alone.]
no subject
Why was no one stationed at the back of the building while Chargebolt was working on rescuing people?
no subject
no subject
I'm gonna meet up with Cellophane here.
no subject
One technician remembers the garbage truck arriving outside a few minutes before the quake hit, which was expected."
no subject
He's sending a text to ol' Crosshair Eyes anyways.]
no subject
no subject
Right now, we need to rely on the traffic cameras to try and track the garbage truck.
no subject
no subject
It's only going to be a short while before Deku hears about this and everyone knows how he gets when it comes to friends being kidnapped... sheesh.]
no subject
no subject
A ridiculous feat going at this speed, but... who knows. Also any garbage trucks.]
no subject
[ No blood stains. No dropped garbage. Nothing. ]
no subject
Quirk. Ransom. Hostage. Murder. Message. Trade. Gotta be one of those six.
no subject
Maybe ransom, but I'm pretty sure the Commission doesn't do that no matter how better it is, now."
honestly love the last few icons have been kaminari fighting
Ransom would be stupid because the money would be recovered easily after paying.] A ransom would be pointless unless they planned to double cross at the end.
never give up! ⚡
...possibly because Chargebolt looks like he's screaming his lungs out.
no subject
Denki, you better be fucking alive or I swear I'll drag you back down from Heaven myself!]
no subject
The front is empty, though. Nobody there.
Just the garbage area itself to check. ]
"...they didn't compact him, right?"
no subject
Hauls the metal up and shoves his face into his collar to avoid the smell that's gonna hit him full in the nose.]
no subject
no subject
So either he was unconscious or drained or his Quirk was cancelled...
no subject
Then they probably switched cars... fuck."
[ They lost the perps... and Chargebolt. ]
no subject

"You want me to update them?"
